Nick Khan Reportedly Warned About AEW On the Day WWE Hired Him

Khan took over as WWE President last August

WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan was reportedly warned about the competition that All Elite Wrestling could pose on the day WWE hired him.

Khan was appointed to his position in WWE in August 2020 after he previously worked as the Co-Head of Television at Creative Artists Agency. The WWE President has regularly evaded questions around AEW being competition for WWE, saying that everything is competition for the promotion and that WWE is focused on themselves.

It has now been noted by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio that Khan was warned of the potential competition AEW could be to WWE on the same day that he was named WWE President.

Meltzer reported that Khan was warned by somebody within WWE about how everyone would tell him that AEW isn't competition but added that if WWE didn’t make changes, then AEW would be caught up with them very soon as real competition.

Khan was also reportedly told how everyone else in the company would tell him that AEW being able to compete with WWE isn't possible.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has previously dismissed the notion that AEW are competition to his brand, although Tony Khan's promotion recently added former WWE Champion CM Punk to their roster.
