Nigel McGuinness Files To Trademark In-Ring Name

Another sign that Nigel McGuinness could be coming back to the ring

Amid teases that he is set to come out of retirement later this year, Nigel McGuinness has filed to trademark his in-ring name with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

McGuinness (real name Steven Haworth) filed to trademark the term on May 4 for the following purposes: 

"IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestler and sports entertainer in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes. FIRST USE: 19990925. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19990925."

McGuinness returned to Ring of Honor at Supercard of Honor on March 31 and he has since done colour commentary alongside Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman. He also appeared in All Elite Wrestling to announce that AEW would be making their debut in the United Kingdom later this year with All In from Wembley Stadium on August 27. 

McGuinness has since refused to rule out coming out of retirement for one more match at All In. He then tweeted after it was revealed that over 60,000 tickets had been sold for the event: "Yikes - I think I said if it sells out i might just have to dust off the old boots."

Nigel McGuinness retired from professional wrestling at an indy show in December 2011. His final matches were used for The Last of McGuinness documentary.
