Little has been seen of Nigel McGuinness since his WWE exit in October 2022, and ahead of an appearance at PROGRESS Wrestling Super Strong Style 16, McGuinness has teased news on his future plans.

Taking to Twitter, McGuinness posted the following: “Very excited about the future - big news for me coming soon.”

A former Ring of Honor World Champion, many fans replying to McGuinness’ post were hopeful that a return to ROH could be on the cards, with McGuinness having served as a commentator and match-maker for the legendary indy promotion between 2011 and 2016 - his last run in the company.

Once regarded as one of the best in-ring talents in the world, McGuinness’ career was marred by injuries, with a medical condition barring him from signing an in-ring contract with WWE in 2009, prompting McGuinness to join TNA instead. After a strong start to his run in TNA, McGuinness - then known as Desmond Wolfe - would suffer more injuries, and would eventually retire from in-ring competition in 2011.

McGuinness would eventually sign with WWE in 2016 after leaving ROH for the last time, serving as a commentator across NXT, NXT UK, 205 Live and Main Event, before his release in 2022.
