Former WWE Commentator Nigel McGuinness has announced his first pro-wrestling appearance since his WWE departure, with Nigel set to appear at PROGRESS Wrestling’s upcoming Super Strong Style 16 show.

PROGRESS announced that McGuinness will be at the event taking place in London from May 27 to May 29, although it hasn’t been revealed what role McGuinness will play at the event.

McGuinness last wrestled in 2011, bringing the curtain down on his in-ring career after 12 years. A former ROH World Champion, McGuinness was at one point in the mid-2000s considered one of the best wrestlers in the world, and would later shine in TNA as Desmond Wolfe in a quick run from 2009 until 2011. From 2016 until 2022, McGuinness provided colour commentary for a host of WWE shows, most notably a run in the NXT booth.

Super Strong Style 16 2023 will be the eighth SSS16 tournament for PROGRESS, with previous winners including the likes of Will Ospreay, Tommy End, and Zack Sabre Jr., amongst others. The 2022 edition of the tournament was won by Chris Ridgeway.
