Report: Former WWE Talent Gains Rights To In-Ring Name

Mascara Dorada is Gran Metalik once again

A luchador has reportedly secured the rights to his WWE in-ring name.

Gran Metalik had reverted back to performing as Mascara Dorada following his WWE release in 2021 but that changed over the weekend as he competed once again as Gran Metalik at Ring of Honor's TV tapings on February 25 and February 26 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Dorada has secured the rights to use Gran Metalik. WWE currently hold the trademark with the United States Patent & Trademark Office, according to their website, however.

Metalik was in action at the February 25 taping in a loss to Ari Daivari before he was heavily involved on February 26. He first teamed with Blake Christian to defeat Ari Daivari and Slim J. Metalik, Christian and AR Fox then made the save for Dalton Castle and The Boys following their loss to The Embassy in a ROH Six-Man Tag Team Title match.

Later, Fox, Christian and Metalik defeated Daivari, Slim J and JVS-K but were attacked post-match by The Embassy. The trio then interrupted another post-match beatdown from The Embassy after Brian Cage beat Tony Deppen.
