It’s been a long road back to health for Jake Roberts, but the legendary ‘Snake’ made his return to All Elite Wrestling recently, cornering Lance Archer as the ‘Murderhawk Monster’ made his return on the February 24 edition of AEW Rampage.

Roberts has been dealing with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) for much of the past year, and during a recent interview with The New York Post, Roberts detailed his journey back to AEW:

“It doesn’t get any better, it really doesn’t,” Roberts said. “You can’t imagine how it feels to walk out and all of sudden they’re chanting your name in unison. It’s overwhelming.”

Roberts continued, revealing that he has to pass medical protocol before being allowed on the road: “When you’re my age, going through protocol is never something you’re completely sure about because I got bits and pieces that have taken a lot of beatings and parts of me that just don’t work the way they used to,” Roberts said. “So being cleared by AEW is a pat on the back that all’s well.”

As well as serving as Archer’s handler on TV, Roberts continues coaching backstage, and despite recently revealing that some talents don’t listen to him, Roberts is still on hand to help wrestlers with their promo skills:

“Right now my job is to try to help some of these guys do interviews, to improve them. That’s something I know a little something about,” said Roberts, often regarded as one of the greatest promos in wrestling history.
