NJPW Announces Dates For G1 Climax 32

The dates for NJPW's annual spectacular have been revealed.

NJPW have announced the dates for the 2022 edition of the G1 Climax - the promotion's traditional round robin competition, regarded by many as the most prestigious tournament in world wrestling.

Due to changes forced by the global pandemic and Tokyo Olympic Games, the previous two years' events were shifted to later in the calendar. 2022 sees the return of the G1 Climax to the summer, which NJPW have billed as "its rightful summer place in the calendar."

The opening night of the tournament will take place on July 16 at Hokkaido Kitayell in Sapporo. It will make stops in cities such as Nagoya, Osaka and Hiroshima, with the competition culminating over three final days in the Nippon Budokan arena in Tokyo.

The G1 Climax winner traditionally goes on to compete for the title at the following January's Wrestle Kingdom.

Last year's tournament was won by Kazuchika Okada, who went on to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship from Shingo Takagi on night one of Wrestle Kingdom 16, before successfully defending it against Will Ospreay on night two.

Full dates can be found on the official New Japan Pro Wrestling website
