NJPW Begins Next Chapter Of Asia Expansion Plans

NJPW’s Asian expansion continues

New Japan Pro-Wrestling are clearly in a rebuilding phase after the exit of several main event stars, but the company are also in the midst of expansion, with NJPW set to return to Taiwan as part of their agreement in the Asia-Pacific Federation of Wrestling.

The first card held under the APFW banner, NJPW are set to return to Taiwan for the first time since 2016 for the Zepp New Taipei hosted Wrestling World 2024 event on Sunday, April 14.

New NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi recently spoke of how New Japan are concentrating hard on Asian expansion, after the success of their US expansion via the NJPW STRONG brand and establishment of their LA Dojo.

Outside of the APFW - a joint venture with sister-promotion STARDOM, China’s DFW, Taiwan's PUZZLE, Thailand's Setup, and Singapore's GrappleMax - NJPW have continued to work with All Elite Wrestling and TNA Wrestling, and have formed a ‘strategic alliance’ with long-term ally CMLL, and Court Bauer’s Major League Wrestling.

In the ring, NJPW recently crowned several new champions on the last stop of the New Beginning tour, and have also officially bade farewell to Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, with the former joining AEW, and the latter expected to join him in the coming months.
