Francesco Akira has been pulled from the remainder of New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Best of the Super Juniors 31 tournament.

Akira has been withdrawn from the tournament due to a left knee injury that he sustained on Sunday during his B block match with Drilla Moloney. Akira will forfeit the remainder of his matches due to the injury and his opponents will be awarded the two points up for grabs.

How long Akira will be out of action is unknown. The United Empire member has been a part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling since 2022 and he is a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with TJP.

NJPW wrote:

"Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

"After missing his match in Himeji May 21 due to a left knee injury, medical evaluation has determined that Francesco Akira should miss the remainder of the Best of the Super Jr. 31 series. We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Akira wrestle, and appreciate your understanding.

"Akira’s forthcoming league matches will be cancelled, and points awarded to his opponents via forfeit."

The latest Best of the Super Juniors is scheduled to conclude at Dominion on June 9.
