New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced during today's 49th Anniversary Show that the company will return to the Tokyo Dome in May.

The return is a part of 'Wrestle Grand Slam', a set of two stadium shows. The first event will be held on May 15 at the 34,000 seat Yokohama Stadium and the Tokyo Dome show will follow on May 29.

Within the announcement, NJPW noted the success of Summer Struggle in Jingu as one of the reasons they decided to run another show in an open-air baseball stadium.

The May 29 Tokyo Dome event will also be the promotion's first show at the legendary venue outside of January since Toukon Souzou New Chapter on October 8, 2005. That show featured matches like Matt Morgan vs. Yuji Nagata, Kendo Kashin and Manabu Nakanishi vs. Charlie Haas and Mark Jindrak, and Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Toshiaki Kawada & Yoji Anjo.

The show was also main evented by an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match in which Brock Lesnar defeated Kazuyuki Fujita and Masahiro Chono in a Three-Way to win the gold.
