El Desperado has become the latest New Japan Pro Wrestling talent to confirm they have tested positive for coronavirus.

The 37-year-old revealed he had COVID-19 in a thread posted on Twitter on Tuesday, detailing the symptoms he has been dealing with during his illness. They included muscle joint pain, a high fever, 'unbelievable' back pain, 'the most dizziness I’ve ever had', and an awful cough.

El Desperado would finish his Twitter thread by expressing his gratitude to the doctors and nurses in Tokyo.

In publicly declaring his positive diagnosis, El Desperado is the latest NJPW wrestler to reveal they have coronavirus. Kazuchika Okada and Taichi have also confirmed they tested positive for the virus in recent days, after NJPW confirmed that nine wrestlers had returned positive tests following the second night of Wrestling Dontaku.

Desperado had originally been scheduled to defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title against YOH on that second night of Wrestling Dontaku. However, both men were removed from the card, and the title match never occurred.
