New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that NJPW Strong will permanently move from Friday nights to Saturday nights starting September 18.

NJPW Strong has ran on Fridays since its debut in August 2020, and due to COVID related travel issues between the USA and Japan, many of NJPW’s gaijin talents have made their home on Strong, with recent major additions including Jay White and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.

Additionally, NJPW also flew the likes of company ace and IWGP US Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii in for the most recent set of NJPW Strong tapings, and with burgeoning relationships with IMPACT Wrestling and AEW, New Japan’s expansion into the American wrestling landscape has been on the whole successful, if not a little difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With AEW Rampage and WWE SmackDown airing on Friday nights, it makes perfect sense to move to Saturdays, with Strong running unopposed on the night, save for the occasional PPV or IMPACT Wrestling special.
