Number One Contenders Match Set For NXT
The next challenger for the NXT Championship will be decided
A match with huge implications for NXT’s special Great American Bash show has been set for this upcoming episode of NXT on Tuesday July 11.
Following a brawl between Ilja Dragunov and Bron Breakker, it was announced via Twitter by Shawn Michaels that the pair would face off in a singles match on the next episode of NXT to determine the brand new number one contender for Carmelo Hayes’ NXT Championship, with the eventual title match set to take place at Great American Bash.
Breakker recently lost the NXT Championship to Hayes, ending a reign that lasted for nearly a whole year at NXT Stand & Deliver. Dragunov is a former NXT UK Champion, becoming the first man to defeat Gunther in WWE, and in his one attempt at trying to become NXT Champion thus far, he came up short - last year to Breakker himself no less.
With this announcement, the NXT card is looking like this;
- Bron Breakker vs. Ilja Dragunov - No.1 Contender for NXT Championship
- Stacks vs. Joe Coffey - If Stacks wins, Tony D’Angelo is released from prison and get an tag title match
- Cora Jade vs. Kelani Jordan
- Appearance from The Judgment Day
- Andre Chase & Duke Hudson vs. Charlie Dempsey & Drew Gulak
- Cora Jade vs. Ivy Nile
- Debut of Lucien Prince & Bronco Lima
