Reigning United States Champion Tiffany Stratton recently qualified to earn a place in the multi-woman ladder match at SummerSlam 2026, which will determine the interim WWE Women’s Championship during the injury absence of reigning champion Rhea Ripley. Despite Ripley being out of action for a couple of months now, this ladder match was seemingly not always the plan, as original plans for Stratton at SummerSlam have been revealed.
According to Cory Hays of False Finish, the original idea for WWE SummerSlam 2026 was to see Tiffany Stratton defend the Women’s United States Championship against recent main roster call-up Blake Monroe. This follows on from a report via WrestleVotes on Fightful Select that Stratton was supposed to be defending the belt at the upcoming PLE.
Plans have been changing plenty in the women’s division on SmackDown, with Tiffany Stratton’s match with Jade Cargill at Night Of Champions being added in replacement of Ripley’s planned WWE Women’s Title defense. Stratton will join the likes of Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Chelsea Green and either Giulia or Lash Legend in the interim WWE Women’s Title ladder match at SummerSlam.
