Rock band Our Lady Peace have re-recorded ‘Whatever’ - the WWE theme music of Chris Benoit.

Benoit used the theme during his run in the promotion before the double murder suicide of Benoit, wife Nancy, and son Daniel in June 2007. Our Lady Peace retired the song from their live set until earlier in 2025, and have now taken the step to re-record and re-release the track, with all profits going to suicide prevention initiatives.

The new version is called ‘Whatever (redux)’, and underneath the official audio visualiser video on YouTube, Our Lady Peace wrote the following:

“It’s been 23 years since the tragic events surrounding WWE wrestler Chris Benoit and the theme song we wrote for him. We feel that enough time has passed that it was necessary to to re-record 'Whatever' to help shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. We’re donating all monies earned from streaming Whatever to suicide prevention initiatives across North America.”

After not playing the track live for 22 years - and having scrapped plans to perform it again after 2012 - Our Lady Peace performed the song as part of a set in Calgary in February 2025.
