Pat McAfee Details How His Latest WWE Return Came Together

Pat McAfee has shared details of how his return to WWE TV alongside The Rock came about.

Last week's SmackDown opened in surprising fashion, with an unadvertised segment between The Rock, former commentator Pat McAfee, and current WWE roster member Austin Theory.

On a recent edition of The Pat McAfee Show, the former NFL player and multimedia personality explained how his recent WWE return came to be:

"Got there 5:34 local time because traffic from Boulder to Denver was not great. The show starts 6 local time [...] A lot of people are talking about, 'How long did everything come together?' It's like, real quick. Everything came together real, real quick.

"What an honor to be back there. Absolute honor to be back. Great to see everybody. I thank them mightily for the opportunity to do that."

McAfee also mentioned the incredible reaction given to The Rock, stating:

"That's Attitude Era, that's way back in the day. The Rock hadn't been back in four years. This Denver crowd was loud to begin with, like, when I went out there. I heard 'em, I'm like, 'This is a louder crowd than it normally is.'"

The Rock, who had appeared as a guest on McAfee's show which was being filmed at Colorado State campus earlier in the day, responded in a tweet saying:

"Honor was mine as well @PatMcAfeeShow. Helluva Friday we had. Chopped it up with you and the boys Friday morning on your show (and drank tequila) and Friday night we rock the house in Denver."
