Back at NXT TakeOver: The End, The Authors Of Pain made their WWE debuts and revealed WWE Hall Of Famer Paul Ellering would be their manager. Akam, Rezar and Ellering formed a successful partnership and AOP was one of the most dominant tag teams on the black and gold brand, holding the NXT Tag Team Title for 203 days. However, Akam and Rezar ditched Ellering after they made their way to Monday Night Raw because WWE reportedly wanted AOP to be on their own.

Ellering was set to return to WWE TV before the coronavirus pandemic as he mentioned on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling Podcast the wrestling behemoth planned to bring him back to manage his former tag team. The plans were dropped, however, after Rezar tore his triceps on the March 9 episode of Raw and the pandemic forced WWE to move the red brand to the Performance Center.

He said: "The idea was to bring me back in but then this corona stuff came up and then the guys got hurt. So, they were out a while. So, everything got put on the back shelf and I don't know where it sits now."

Rezar is expected to be on the shelf for up to six months, and WWE may well decide to bring Ellering back once AOP returns to TV.
