Positive Update On Kenny Omega Following Surgery

Positive news on Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega found himself seriously ill in December and the former AEW World Champion underwent surgery after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. Omega was said to be in a lot of pain on the December 13 edition of AEW Dynamite and he ended up being rushed to hospital on December 15 after initially believing he was suffering from a hernia. Had the Best Bout Machine delayed heading to the emergency room, the situation "could have been horrendous."

In a positive update on Omega, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Omega is "doing better".

"It's been six days since Omega was hospitalised. And by the way, he is doing better, but he's got a long road ahead of him," Meltzer stated.

There is no timetable on when Omega will be able to return to All Elite Wrestling and Meltzer noted the expectation is he will be on the shelf for a while.

"I'm going to go with the idea that Omega is out for a long, long time, so I'm not going to figure him into this [building up challengers for AEW World Champion MJF] right now until later," Meltzer added.

Omega was scheduled to team with Chris Jericho to challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Worlds End on December 30. AEW have yet to announce if Jericho will find a new partner for the match or if Big Bill and Ricky Starks will find new opponents.
