SPOILER On Upcoming WWE Return

WWE Return is planned

A WWE tag team that hasn't appeared on TV in three years is expected to make a return in the near future.

According to a report from Fightful Select, the Authors of Pain (AKA AOP) are scheduled to be back on WWE programming "soon." The working plan at the moment is for Akam and Rezar to be a part of Friday Night SmackDown but those plans may well change before they resurface on TV.

Rumours of Akam and Rezar returning to WWE TV have swirled throughout 2023 and Fightful Select noted AOP have actually been under contract with WWE for close to 18 months. The tag team were at the WWE Performance Center in August of 2022.

Akam and Rezar were managed by Paul Ellering during their NXT run and the WWE Hall of Famer is expected to join AOP when they resurface on TV. Ellering's return was said to be an important factor for the Authors of Pain.

AOP previously wrestled for WWE from 2016 until their releases in 2020. They are former Raw Tag Team Champions and NXT Tag Team Champions.

During their time away from the company, Akam and Rezar launched the infamous Wrestling Entertainment Series promotion. Plans were in place for an event on June 4 at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England but the show was then moved to July 9 due to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. After annoying talents booked for the event and selling less than 350 tickets for a 10,000-seat arena, the WES event was cancelled and the promotion never returned.
