MJF has not competed in an AEW ring since losing in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In: London 2026, last being seen in a backstage promo which aired in the week following. It was noted in the lead-up to All In that MJF had been dealing with several injuries, which explained why he proceeded to take some time away from the ring. New rumblings have suggested that he may be back sooner rather than later.
A new report from Fightful Select has revealed an expectation for MJF to return to AEW programming in the near future. When it comes to upcoming plans for MJF’s return, it is noted that he is likely to re-enter the AEW World Championship picture. Prior to his absence, MJF had been holding his “Triple B” version of the world title, proclaiming himself to be the “One True Champion” of AEW, despite his title loss to Kenny Omega.
MJF has been involved in the AEW World Title scene throughout his entire run in 2026, reigning twice as AEW World Champion, feuding with the likes of Adam Page, Darby Allin & Kenny Omega, and most recently starting a rivalry with Andrade El Idolo, who currently holds a contract for a guaranteed shot at the top prise in the men’s division.
