The stars were out in force for AEW Revolution 2025, but it wasn’t smooth sailing as Queen of the Ring star Damaris Lewis found out after some well intentioned but ill advised comments during the show.
Lewis was in the crowd with co-star Kelli Berglund and director/writer Ash Avildsen, with Lewis stating, “One thing I learned about pro wrestlers, y’all know you’re going to win before anybody else does so thank you for teaching me that,” during a quick promo spot with Tony Schiavone.
It is easy to see that Lewis’ comments were clumsy and not meant vindictively, but that didn’t stop people on the internet from pouring vitriol at Lewis, with Lewis later apologising for her remarks during an appearance on Busted Open Radio:
“It is a sport, it is real. People are in there, in that ring, doing what they gotta do. It’s tough and dangerous at times. I respect it fully with my whole heart. So yes, I will say it again: I am so sorry if it came out that way. But like you said, you have to know the house you’re in. I know that these fans love their sport and that they were defending their sport so I can’t be mad,” Lewis said, stating she was trying to convey that working with wrestlers allowed her to get inside the psyche of an in-ring competitor, and how they have an internal voice when they know they’re going to win a match.
Lewis’ Queen of the Ring co-star and AEW roster member Kamille defended Lewis’ comments after they aired.
