After several years in WWE, a brief return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and an unsuccessful stint trying to act, Hulk Hogan headed to World Championship Wrestling in 1994 and immediately went to the top of the card, challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship in his in-ring debut.

Hogan, through backstage politicking and his own star power, never left the main event picture and he would remain involved with the WCW World Heavyweight Title throughout his time in WCW which only came to an end after the company was purchased by WWE in 2001.
