Two years on from WWE's revival of the show in 2004 and Great American Bash remained a SmackDown-exclusive pay-per-view as the blue brand arrived at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 23, 2006.
The show is primarily only remembered for one moment which saw King Booker win the World Heavyweight Championship, becoming a six-time world champion in the process. Booker T had been a featured performer since signing with WWE in 2001 and Great American Bash finally somewhat made up for him not defeating Triple H for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 19.
Elsewhere on the show, there was the first-ever Punjabi Prison Match and two title matches.
