After WWE revived the event in 2004, the company decided to hold their second edition of the Great American Bash on July 24, 2005 at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York.
The show was once again a SmackDown-exclusive pay-per-view and featured two title matches with the United States Championship and World Heavyweight Title on the line across the show. Elsewhere, there was a Bra & Panties Match and one contest would be the final WWE appearance of one of the organisation's more infamous characters.
