Rainn Wilson Promises To Defeat AEW's Sting In A Match

In possibly the oddest challenge to a professional wrestling match in some time, Actor Rainn Wilson - famous for portraying the US Office's Dwight Schrute - proclaimed on Christmas Day that he would wrestle Sting and defeat The Icon.

"Someday I will wrestle Sting. And I will win. You can bet on it," Wilson tweeted.

Wilson may have challenged the wrong man, though, as Sting noted he might have to use the mysterious Flying Toe Hold against the Office star, a move that could potentially debilitate the 55-year-old. 

Sting replied: "I may have to break out the Flying Toe Hold. You don't even want to know."

If a match will actually take place ultimately remains to be seen, but Wilson already has the perfect gimmick to step into the squared circle in The Crimson Bolt, his superhero character from James Gunn's 2010 movie 'Super.'

All Elite Wrestling haven't been afraid to use celebrities in prominent positions since the promotion was founded in 2019 and Shaquille O'Neal previously teamed with Jade Cargill against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet in March 2021. Snoop Dogg also appeared on a January 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite and hit a Splash on Serpentico.
