HOOK has not competed in an AEW ring since April, with the former FTW Champion visibly vomiting in-ring during a tag match against The Death Riders.
The ‘Cold Hearted Handsome Devil’ was pulled from AEW TV, with his spot in The Opps filled by Powerhouse Hobbs, and despite a cameo during Anarchy in the Arena at Double or Nothing in May, there have been no sightings of the second-generation star.
Initial reports were that HOOK was not suffering from a concussion, but during an appearance on Wrestling Observer Live, HOOK himself refuted those claims:
“I’m recovering from a concussion for those who don’t know, but I’ve been out for a while and should be back soon,” HOOK said.
The 26-year-old first wrestled for AEW in 2021, and is a three-time FTW Champion in the organisation. The son of ECW legend Taz, HOOK retired the unsanctioned championship at AEW Grand Slam 2024 with victory over Roderick Strong.
The angle at Double or Nothing seemed to suggest there could be an official fracture in the relationship between HOOK and The Opps - specifically Samoa Joe. Whether this gets explored, and when, remains to be seen.
