Real Reason WWE Decided To Settle MLW Lawsuit

MLW and WWE have agreed to settle out of court

There has been an ongoing lawsuit between WWE and MLW for a couple of years at this point, but finally an agreement has been made between the two sides (at least an initial one) to settle out of court.

The statement announcing this was made by MLW’s lawyers, as noted by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“In accordance with the Court’s Standing Order for Civil Cases, Section IV.F.1, Plaintiff MLW Media LLC and Defendant World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (together, the “Parties”), hereby submit this Notice of Settlement to notify the Court that the Parties have settled this action. The Parties are in the process of completing the final settlement documents and expect to file the appropriate dismissal papers within the next thirty (30) days.”

The reason for the settlement seems to be a case of both sides just wanting everything over and done with, especially with WWE’s recent sale and merger and the ongoing costs of this lawsuit to MLW. The lawsuit in question saw MLW accuse WWE of getting in the way of potential TV deals for the company. As explained by Meltzer, the result of this case will not be revealed until the deal is completed.
