Reason AEW Booked Swerve Strickland Vs. Keith Lee For Worlds End Revealed

Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland will battle at AEW Worlds End

Over a year since the former AEW World Tag Team Champions split up, Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee are finally having their long-awaited singles match in AEW. Strickland turned heel last year, brutally attacking Keith Lee to kickstart a feud. Although their issues continued in the first couple of months in 2023, the rivalry was dropped and both men went their separate ways.

There have been some minor teases here and there, but AEW are now finally pulling the trigger after Lee decided to target Strickland for a match at the upcoming Worlds End PPV. Fightful Select have learned of the reason as to why AEW are finally booking this singles match.

The idea behind it was to finally tie off a loose end and “put a bow” on their long-awaited match by also including Lee’s feud with Shane Taylor and incorporating ROH too. AEW have reportedly had this idea in place since Full Gear, with plans changing as the original direction was for Strickland and Adam Page to continue their feud. However, after their tremendous Texas Deathmatch, AEW moved on.
