The reigning ROH Pure Champion has been conspicuous by his absence from both AEW & ROH programming in 2024, with Blackpool Combat Club member Wheeler Yuta wrestling his most recent match all the way back on the January 10 episode of AEW Dynamite when he lost in an unsuccessful attempt at dethroning Eddie Kingston for the AEW Continental, ROH World, and NJPW Strong Championships.

Despite being originally billed to take part in AEW’s crossover with CMLL along with the Blackpool Combat Club when Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, and Yuta’s replacement Matt Sydal took on Blue Panther, Mistico, Ultimo Guerrero & Volador Jr at CMLL Homenaje A Dos Leyendas 2024, Yuta hasn’t been seen on TV at all. A report from Fightful Select has revealed that Yuta’s extended absence from AEW has been due to him “dealing with concussion symptoms for months”.

When looking ahead to the future, there is currently no word on a potential return to action, though the previous update provided to Fightful Select suggested that he wasn’t expected to be out for long, though he still hasn’t yet returned to the ring.
