Reason IMPACT Wrestling Released Matt Striker Revealed

News of Striker’s release emerged this week

Earlier this week, IMPACT lead announcer Matt Striker tweeted that he had left IMPACT, then subsequently deleted the post, causing some confusion amongst wrestling fans.

Now it has been confirmed that Striker has left IMPACT after just a year, with Dave Meltzer revealing why Striker was let go in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

“Matt Striker, who had been the lead announcer, was let go this past week. Management wasn’t happy with his performance that this is something that had been in the works for months. There is no word on the replacement but obviously something is in the works since they are doing a PPV and television this week.”

IMPACT are hosting their first pay-per-view of the year on Saturday January 8 with Hard To Kill. It is unknown at this present moment in time who will be partnering D’Lo Brown for the broadcast, although smart money would be on Josh Mathews, who filled in for Striker during a series of IMPACT Wrestling tapings in 2021.
