Shayna Baszler debuted on WWE’s main roster back in 2020, emerging in the Royal Rumble match where she finished runner-up, before going on to earn a Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36. In the lead up to her match with Becky Lynch, fans will remember a segment where Baszler took a bite out of Lynch is a bizarre moment.
Fightful Select recently spoke to Baszler and asked about the segment, posing the question of how and why it came about. She revealed how it came about due to WWE management wanting her to trend on Twitter, with the bite being something so shocking that it would be talked about. It was discussed that WWE wanted her as the “Mike Tyson” of the women’s division, opting with a bite rather than her trademark arm stomp that she used in NXT.
Baszler would ultimately go on to lose to Lynch at WrestleMania 36, and she never returned to the gimmick of taking chunks out of her opponents in the aftermath.
