Referee Aubrey Edwards Signs Full-Time Deal With AEW
After a historic Saturday night...
Not only was AEW All Out significant for the crowning of the promotion's first World champion (or champion of any sort, for that matter), but the presence of one principal in that title bout made history as well.
Referee Aubrey Edwards became the first female to officiate a World title match on any wrestling pay-per-view. She also made her presence felt by getting physical with eventual winner Chris Jericho, during a spot in the match in which he angrily confronted her.
Edwards' weekend has only gotten better, revealing Sunday that she is now officially with AEW on a full-time basis.
Tweeted Edwards, "Yesterday was huge, but today is too! Today I'm officially a full-time referee for @AEWrestling. This was a long time coming, but I needed to close the doors on my previous job before saying anything. Now I yell at people to pay my bills. What is life?"
Edwards previously officiated the first singles match in AEW history, which pitted Kip Sabian against Sammy Guevara during Double or Nothing's "Buy In" pre-show on May 25.
