Renee Young To Reportedly Join Announce Team For WWE Crown Jewel

A huge development.

Renee Young is set to be part of the Raw announce team for WWE's Crown Jewel show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Friday, according to an exclusive report by ProWrestlingSheet.

The report claims that Young is set to travel to Saudi Arabia as part of the show, and that WWE had a view to this development in September, around the time she was historically made the first full-time female announcer on Monday Night Raw.

This comes shortly after news of John Cena and Daniel Bryan's reported refusal to work the show. Cena was written out of the event on last night's Raw, being replaced in the World Cup tournament by Bobby Lashley. Bryan is still advertised as AJ Styles' Crown Jewel opponent, given his status as number one contender to Styles' WWE Championship. However, WWE.com's official preview of tonight's SmackDown states that the pair are scheduled to have a confrontation - one which many are assuming will write Bryan out of Crown Jewel one way or another.

ProWrestlingSheet's report states:

'It’s unclear if Renee will have certain guidelines or rules to follow because of the country’s numerous restrictions for women. [...] As you may recall, women were not allowed to perform at Greatest Royal Rumble and the Saudi General Sports Authority even had to release a public apology after the event due to Bayley, Sasha Banks and Carmella being shown on the big screen wearing their ring gear.'

The build towards Crown Jewel has been a controversial and criticised one, given the global political situation regarding the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
