The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship was on the line at Sunday's Forbidden Door pay-per-view in Chicago, Illinois, as Jay White defended the gold against Kazuchika Okada, Hangman Page, and Adam Cole.

Fans were entertained by the match but the contest ended suddenly as Adam Cole avoided a Rainmaker from Okada before he suddenly collapsed to the floor. Jay White then hit a Bladerunner on The Rainmaker before he covered Cole for the 1-2-3.

Cole appeared to be injured in the final moments and Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez has reported that Cole is believed to have suffered a concussion at Forbidden Door.

"Adam Cole's injury believed to be a concussion, wishing all the best to him," Alvarez tweeted.

AEW President Tony Khan commented on Cole's status during the post-Forbidden Door media scrum and the AEW CEO said the former ROH World Champion "will be okay long-term."

Cole had been dealing with a torn labrum in recent months but if that injury has also worsened is currently unknown.
