Report: AEW Backstage Reaction To Scrapping Of Dark & Dark: Elevation

Backstage reaction to AEW scrapping Dark and Dark: Elevation

With the upcoming addition of Collision to All Elite Wrestling’s taping and touring schedule, the decision was made to axe fan favourite YouTube shows AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation, with the final episodes having aired in April.

Whilst both shows gave undercard, developmental, and indy talent a chance to hone their craft, the decision to end the shows has reportedly gone down well backstage in AEW, with a report from PWInsider stating that the cancelling of the shows has made AEW TV tapings ‘easier’ to work.

Dark: Elevation was taped prior to Dynamite on Wednesdays, but now Dynamite features a couple of pre-show matches to warm up the crowd. This shift is believed to have allowed more focus to be placed on Dynamite and Rampage, whilst keeping crowds hotter by avoiding burnout.

Going forward, the belief is that Rampage and Ring of Honor will semi-fill the gap left by Dark and Dark: Elevation, with Rampage still set to be recorded alongside Dynamite, whilst ROH TV tapings will occur during the Collision sessions after its debut in June.
