Report: Further Details On Issues Between CM Punk & AEW

CM Punk and AEW look to have fallen out

CM Punk's future with All Elite Wrestling is once again up in the air.

The 44-year-old was scheduled to make his AEW return on the inaugural episode of Collision on Saturday, June 17, with rumours suggesting the show would be taking place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois and have the tagline of 'The Second Coming.' Punk was scheduled to return and feud with Samoa Joe, with Fightful Select revealing a match graphic for CM Punk vs. Samoa Joe had been created.

The official launch of AEW Collision took place on Wednesday, May 17 but the announcement came and went without mention of CM Punk. It has since emerged that Punk was originally going to be listed as a headliner for Collision in the official press release announcing the creation of the show but he was pulled from the announcement and promotional material for Collision.

Reports have also noted that issues have arisen between CM Punk and All Elite Wrestling over the potential return of Ace Steel, with rumours on Wednesday night revealing that Steel was scheduled to come back to AEW but it was decided that he wouldn't be at tapings of Collision, a decision that has left Punk and the promotion on opposite sides.

In the latest update, Fightful Select has reported that Chris Jericho brought up the possibility of Ace Steel returning to AEW during his meeting with CM Punk, with the idea that everyone working together might alleviate backstage tensions within the promotion.

A meeting between AEW and CM Punk took place this week, during which it was made clear to Punk that Steel could return and work directly with the two-time AEW World Champion, but the former producer would not be allowed to attend AEW TV tapings. Punk allegedly did not agree with this decision.

Despite the breakdown in relations, Warner Bros. Discovery are reportedly hopeful that AEW and CM Punk can work out their issues.
