Report: AEW Fight Forever To Poke Fun At Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch Botch From Revolution 2021

An infamous botch from All Elite Wrestling's past will be referenced in the upcoming AEW Fight Forever video game.

AEW's Revolution 2021 pay-per-view was headlined by an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch for the AEW World Title between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. The match had everything fans would expect from such a hardcore stipulation and after the match ended, the clock continued to tick down to the explosion. 

A heartfelt moment occurred as Eddie Kingston charged to the ring to protect the prone Jon Moxley from the explosion but instead of an eruption as the clock reached zero, fans were presented with a few sparklers and a couple of small plumes of smoke that failed to envelop the ring. 

The moment was so poorly received that Moxley and Omega were furious about the explosion and Tony Khan ended up not paying the third-party company he hired to set up the spot. 

The moment has gone down in infamy but fans will be able to recreate the spot in AEW Fight Forever. Fightful Select has reported there are two options for the finish of the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch in the video game - a brutal explosion that fans would expect from such a stipulation, or a dud spot like what occurred at Revolution two years ago. 

A number of other easter eggs will also be present in AEW Fight Forever like size-based characters and weapons. Other easter eggs will also reportedly be initially difficult to find.

AEW Fight Forever is set to be released on Thursday, June 29. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game is said to be compatible with Steam Deck.
