Multi-time AEW World Tag Team Champions Matthew & Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks haven’t been seen on AEW programming since October 2024, leaving the arena after they lost the AEW World Tag Team Championships to Private Party on Fright Night Dynamite. They would return to the ring at the AEW x NJPW Wrestle Dynasty PPV in Japan, winning the IWGP World Tag Team Championships, though they quickly lost the gold at New Beginning In Osaka and have not returned since.

AEW have frequented the Young Bucks’ home state of California in recent weeks, and it was noted by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Matthew and Nicholas Jackson were backstage at the recent Oceanside, California episode of Dynamite, but have yet to make a return.

It is reported by Meltzer that plans are underway with the former AEW World Tag Team Champions to make a return in the near future, though it isn’t clear when exactly that will take place. Unlike many other AEW talents who have been on long-term absences, The Young Bucks’ absence hasn’t been due to them being out of favour.
