On this week's episode of Dynamite, All Elite Wrestling announced the Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament: The Deadly Draw. The tournament will be broadcast later this summer and the brackets will consist of eight teams and 16 women. Most teams will seemingly have to be thrown together, however, as while AEW's women have competed in tag team matches before, there is currently only one recognised duo in The Nightmare Sisters.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that AEW plans to hold the tournament every summer, but its future will ultimately depend on how well it does in the ratings.

Meltzer said: "So, the story here is that they're doing this tournament. The idea is for it to be an annual summer tournament if it does well in the ratings. The people will decide the future of this. The goal is to make it an annual thing but if it doesn't do well in ratings then, you know, you don't do anything. That's business."

Meltzer later noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW has no plans to create Women's Tag Team Championships at the moment, despite holding the tournament.
