Report: AEW Sends Legal Letter To CM Punk

Latest on AEW & CM Punk

In the latest development on issues between All Elite Wrestling and CM Punk, former President of Wrestling Inc. Raj Giri has claimed AEW sent a legal letter to Punk over the weekend and he has to either comply with the contents of the letter or the promotion will file a lawsuit against him.

"AEW sent a legal notice to Punk yesterday that he either has to comply or they're gonna file a suit against him," Giri said during a Twitter Spaces with BackupHangman of WrestlePurists.

The report from Giri comes after relations between AEW and CM Punk took another twist last week. It was expected that Punk would be making his return to AEW on the debut episode of Collision on Saturday, June 17, which was reportedly scheduled to take place at the United Center in Chicago. Punk's return and a match against Samoa Joe were set to be announced alongside the launch of Collision on Wednesday, May 17 but Punk was removed from all promotional materials ahead of the announcement.

It later emerged that AEW had re-signed Punk's close friend Ace Steel to work on creative and there was reportedly an understanding that Steel would go back on the road with AEW after the launch of Collision. AEW informed Punk on Tuesday, May 16 that Steel would not be returning to the road, though, and this has left the two parties at odds.

As it stands, AEW reportedly have a back-up location for the debut episode of Collision in Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida. Warner Bros. Discovery were hopeful of a reconciliation before Wednesday's announcement of the debut episode of Collision.
