A pre-sale for AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door tickets was held on May 5 and it proved to be a success for both promotions, with the available tickets (over 11,000) selling out in less than 40 minutes.

A further 3,000 tickets will go on sale today and Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this will likely make Forbidden Door the third non-WWE professional wrestling show to top a $1 million gate. The other two shows are Double Or Nothing 2022 and 2019's G1 Supercard.

Meltzer also noted that approximately 11,200 tickets were sold yesterday, of which 3747 were purchased by ticket brokers, which is a higher percentage than usual.

Many fans and individuals within the industry expected Forbidden Door to have strong ticket sales but AEW seemingly didn't expect the same outcome as the company didn't initially put many tickets on sale once the pre-sale went live. A person within AEW also noted they were 'very surprised' at how well tickets sold.

Forbidden Door will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on June 26.
