Report: AEW Wrote Daniel Garcia Off TV In Case He Doesn't Sign A New Deal

Daniel Garcia written off AEW TV in case he doesn't re-sign with the promotion

Daniel Garcia is currently off All Elite Wrestling programming, having been written off TV on the July 3 edition of Dynamite with a brutal MJF beatdown after the former AEW World Champion turned heel. Garcia suffered the post-match attack after he unsuccessfully challenged Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship.

Daniel Garcia has not been back on TV, with Will Ospreay noting on Dynamite that Garcia has lost feeling in his arms such was the brutality of Friedman's attack. MJF's attack may end up being so brutal that Garcia never returns to All Elite Wrestling.

Ibou of WrestlePurists revealed on Monday night that Garcia was written off TV as AEW is protecting themselves in case Garcia doesn't sign a new deal with the promotion.

"He's fine. The company is protecting themselves while he hopefully dots his eyes and crosses his T's. If he stays, he's jumping into a feud with Max. If he leaves, then he was Ricochet’d. They'd like him to stay and feel that he will," Ibou tweeted.

Dave Meltzer has since reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Garcia had not signed a new deal with AEW as of July 3 and Bryan Alvarez confirmed AEW wrote off Garcia just in case he doesn't sign a new contract with the promotion.

"What I know is when they did that angle they were aware that he may not be back. So the angle was done in case he doesn't come back. If he does come back, then they have a storyline feud with MJF. I know he had been thinking about it, or he had told people he had been thinking about what he was going to do...I don't think it's 100 per cent that he's coming back, I will say that, but I don't think that he's re-signed or decided to leave yet. But that was one of the reasons why he was taken out in that storyline," Alvarez said.

Reports in early July noted that WWE were extremely interested in signing Garcia back in 2021 but 'Red Death' ended up joining AEW instead. Garcia has had one reign as ROH Pure Champion during his time with AEW.
