Report: AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door Card Not "Locked In Stone"

Nothing is set for Forbidden Door

Following Tony Khan's tease of a major announcement, Adam Cole and Jay White revealed on Wednesday's edition of Dynamite that All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling will come together for 'Forbidden Door,' a joint pay-per-view on Sunday, June 26, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

No matches have been announced for the show as of yet and while the expectation is the card will be littered with AEW vs. NJPW bouts, that isn't "locked in stone" according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and the show could instead feature AEW vs. AEW and NJPW vs. NJPW contests.

Forbidden Door will be NJPW's first major co-promoted show in the United States since G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden in 2019. While some ROH vs. NJPW matches took place at that event, the headline bouts were intra-promotional affairs with the show featuring Kota Ibushi vs. Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and Jay White vs. Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Title, among other encounters.
