Report: Update On Bret Hart Potentially Joining AEW

Several AEW talents have teased Bret Hart potentially coming in

In recent months, numerous AEW talents have been teasing the idea that Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart could join the organisation, with FTR notably making numerous pitches online for Hart to manage them.

FTR will get their wish at an upcoming indie show, but Dave Meltzer doesn’t see ‘The Hitman’ coming into AEW, writing the following in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

“Bret Hart will be in FTR’s corner for a match for the Big Time Wrestling promotion on 6/10 in Webster, MA. The reason this is on an indie show and not AEW is that those in AEW are of the belief that Hart quietly signed a lucrative WWE deal that would ban him from appearing on AEW shows. But he is allowed to do indie shows, so that loophole allowed this to happen. This also means they believe he can’t be part of the Owen Hart tournament presentation.”

Meltzer also noted that Hart was reportedly never asked by AEW about appearing for the Owen Hart Tournament trophy presentation.

Hart has appeared for AEW in the past, unveiling the AEW World Championship at AEW Double or Nothing in 2019.
