After signing with All Elite Wrestling, rumours surfaced claiming that Andrade El Idolo had a creative control clause written into his contract when signing, allowing him final say on anything related to his character.
Now it seems that those rumours are unfounded, as a report from PWInsider says that Andrade has the same amount of creative control as any other performer in the company. Although it is said that AEW performers are allowed a lot more creative freedom as opposed to the likes of WWE, the final say is always AEW President Tony Khan’s.
Whatever the outcome, we can assume that Andrade will have a lot of leeway with his character, and hopefully will be involved in some dynamic storylines going forward in AEW.
Creative control clauses in wrestling are not always a good thing anyway. Hollywood Hulk Hogan famously had creative control when in WCW, liked to flex his creative control on a regular basis, and we all know how that worked out.
