Report: Backstage News On Brock Lesnar's WWE Heel Turn On Raw After WrestleMania 39

Behind-the-scenes details of Brock Lesnar's WWE heel turn

After almost two years as a babyface, Brock Lesnar turned heel on the Raw after WrestleMania 39, taking out Cody Rhodes ahead of their scheduled main event tag team match against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. Lesnar then proceeded to batter Rhodes around the ringside area, leaving him lying after F5-ing him through the announce table and onto the steel steps before several chair shots. Raw then went off the air as Lesnar flipped off Rhodes, WWE officials and the medical team attending to Cody.

While there were multiple changes to the Raw after WrestleMania 39 following Vince McMahon's re-establishment at the top of WWE creative, plans for Rhodes and Brock Lesnar did not change outside of Cody calling someone in a backstage segment, according to Fightful Select.

Instead, Lesnar knew about WWE's plans for him to feud with Cody nearly a month before April 3 and the intricacies of how his heel turn would happen were laid out at this time, too. Lesnar added subtle hints of a heel turn to his presentation while feuding with Omos. According to sources within WWE, Lesnar not getting back in the ring with Omos, avoiding contact, and him backing out of the ring were supposed to be signals of an upcoming heel turn for the multi-time world champion.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that Lesnar vs. Rhodes will likely take place at Backlash on May 6 but the match could be saved for WWE's next Saudi show later that month.
