Report: Backstage News On Jimmy Jacobs Joining AEW

More on Jimmy Jacobs signing with AEW

It emerged ahead of the June 14 edition of AEW Dynamite that Jimmy Jacobs was All Elite, having signed with the promotion as a coach/producer.

Jacobs' signing came after six years with IMPACT Wrestling as part of the promotion's creative team. The 39-year-old also previously worked for WWE as a writer between March 2015 and October 2017 but he was fired for taking a photo with members of Bullet Club during the NJPW stable's "invasion" outside of a Monday Night Raw taping. Many of those Bullet Club members are now in AEW, while Jacobs was closely linked with Chris Jericho's creative during their time in WWE together.

In an update on his signing, PWInsider reported that AEW signed Jacobs as they look to bring in more staff ahead of the premiere of Collision on June 17. Jacobs' departure wasn't a secret in IMPACT and he gave notice to the promotion several weeks ago, finishing up over Against All Odds weekend.

IMPACT President Scott D'Amore informed talent and staff that Jacobs would be departing shortly after he handed in his notice. The former ROH talent's exit was said to be amicable and he received praise for working as hard as he did in his final weeks with the promotion. Jacobs was the head of creative in IMPACT, reporting to Scott D'Amore.

Jacobs put pen to paper on his contract with AEW over the weekend.
