Report: Backstage News On Nia Jax's WWE Return

Backstage details on Nia Jax's WWE return

Nia Jax is back with WWE.

The former Raw Women's Champion made her return to WWE on the September 11 edition of Monday Night Raw, attacking Raquel Rodriguez during her latest attempt to win the Women's World Championship from Rhea Ripley in the main event of Raw. Ripley took advantage to pin Rodriguez but the champion was then laid out by Jax following the match, with Raw going off the air after Jax delivered a Banzai Drop to Ripley.

According to Fightful Select, Jax has been signed with WWE for over a month, with WWE's unofficial hiring freeze that had been in place for much of 2023 ending this summer. Jax is the first signing for the main roster since Vince McMahon forced his way back into WWE in January 2023.

Several within WWE thought Jax would return before September 11. Why WWE decided to delay her return is unknown.

Jax was previously a full-time talent in WWE from 2014 until her release in November 2021. Alongside her Raw Women's Title reign, Jax is a two-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion with Shayna Baszler.

She has largely remained out of pro wrestling since her release except for a surprise appearance at #30 in the 2023 Women's Royal Rumble. Jax was booked to work the Wrestling Entertainment Series show run by the Authors of Pain but the show was cancelled before it ever took place.
