Report: Backstage News On WWE Moving The ThunderDome

Tropicana Field awaits...

WWE recently announced the ThunderDome will be moving from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The new residency will begin with the December 11 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

According to Fightful Select, WWE will start moving into Tropicana Field on November 28 and will get everything set up through December 10. The company is expecting a much longer set-up time than the Amway Center, which was constructed within a week.

Fightful also noted WWE will run shows at the Amway Center until at least December 7 and will start tearing down the set immediately following that night's edition of Raw.

WWE has broadcast all main roster programming from the ThunderDome at Amway since August 21. The initial two-month residency was extended until the end of November, but WWE has to vacate the arena ahead of the upcoming NBA season. The Amway Center is the current home of Orlando Magic and the 2020-21 season is scheduled to begin on December 21.
