Report: Backstage Reaction To Stephanie McMahon's Leave Of Absence Revealed

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon is stepping back from her role in the company as the former on-screen authority figure announced on Thursday she would be taking a leave of absence. 

"As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family," McMahon tweeted. 

Stephanie's decision ultimately came as a shock to many within WWE and they were 'taken aback' by the news, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider. This suggests only those in McMahon's close inner circle were aware of her intentions to take a leave of absence although Wrestlenomics reported an employee heard in recent weeks that Stephanie's role might be reduced soon. The employee didn't take the rumour seriously, however.  

Many within the company were also trying to find out why Stephanie is taking a step back but it was noted that Triple H's health issues and 'working a busy schedule for many years' were factors in her decision.
